City of North Vancouver - Election Worker Application

The City of North Vancouver is seeking reliable, civic minded individuals to serve as Election Workers for the 2026 Municipal Election. Selected applicants will be hired as casual/auxiliary exempt City employees for the election period. Eligibility Requirements

1. Are you legally entitled to work in Canada between September 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 ? (you do not have to be a Canadian citizen).

2. Are you 16 years of age or order (as of September 1, 2026)?

3. Are you available to work Election Day, Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm?

4. Will you remain non-partisan, neutral and protect ballot secrecy?

5. Will you refrain from any involvement in any candidate’s campaign?

6. Do you have an immediate family relationship (parent, child, sibling spouse or partner) with any candidate running in the 2026 City of North Vancouver Local Election?

Training

Election Workers are required to attend in-person training.

In-person training for all Election Workers is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
In addition, Presiding Election Officials and Alternate Presiding Election Officials are required to attend an additional in-person training session on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Advance Voting

- Presiding Election Officials and Alternate Presiding Election Officials are required to work one 3-4 hour Advance Voting Shift, based on the schedule and their availability.
- Registration Clerks are required to work one 3-4 hour Advance Voting shift based on the schedule and their availability.
- Election Officials may choose to work one 3-4 hour Advance Voting shift, which will be assigned based on the schedule and their availability.

Advance Voting Schedule:

October 7, 2026: 8:00am - 8:00 pm
October 10, 2026: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
October 13, 2026: 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
October 14, 2026: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
October 15, 2026: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

13(b). If Yes: Current City employees must take the day off from their home position when a voting shift falls on one of their regularly scheduled workday(s). Banked time may be used including: 1. Vacation 2. Deferred vacation 3. Overtime 4. 554/Compressed Work City Employees are also required to obtain Managerial approval to take leave to work an election shift when that shift falls on a regularly scheduled workday. If you are an Auxiliary Employee, Election Office staff will make specific arrangements with you. Do you understand the requirements above?
